Dogs are incredibly individualistic animals, with each one having its own distinct pawsonality. Which means that in every single situation you cannot be quite sure how a doggo is going to react. Something which was all too evident in this canine rescue story which begins with a doggo who is so desperate to be saved, yet full of fear of being touched that he unwittingly tries to scare off those who come to help him. But not this brave rescuer.

Much in the same way that emergency service providers in the hooman world are taught to talk to and handle hoomans going through a crisis. So should there be more awareness about how our darling doggo's react to being dumped and how to handle and understand their behaviors. For example if you were to take the body language of the doggo in this story at face value, you might even think that it did not want to be saved at all. Displaying a nervous and angry posture towards his soon to be rescuer. And while the less well informed might take this to mean a doggo who does not want to be touched. It was actually a cry for help, but one that required a little trust building to set in motion.

Having been burned by their previous pawrents, this pup was not about to unload all its love onto someone new without making sure that they would not leave him to pass away as his ex-pawrents did. So using his aggression gave him some distance and bought him some time to see how this hooman would react and how safe their reaction made him feel. And before long this sweet canine child found himself canoodling and cuddling in the arms of his new pawrent after having decided definitively that this is a good hooman.

Goodness, what a quick and worthwhile transformation this pupper has gone through. From being terrified of anything that came its way while stranded out on that lonely street, to letting go of all defences and showing its awwpreciation with loads of love. It takes a dog with a truly open and warm heart to be able to let go of fear induced defensive postures, and lucky for both the doggo and the hooman, there looks to be a lot of love to go around in this story. It just goes to show how quickly things can move if you take the time and invest in a doggo in need.
